Hi, my name is Rachel, and I’m the owner and founder of Rachel’s Pet Care & Dog Training. I began my business as a professional pet sitter and quickly discovered how much I truly loved every part of caring for pets. However, some dogs required more than just pet sitting; they needed additional guidance and support. Therefore, I became a certified dog trainer to make a meaningful difference in the lives of dogs and their families. Since 2020, I’ve continued to grow my education and stay current because every dog learns differently. In my training, it’s never just about the dog — it’s about the human, too.

I believe dogs already know how to live in our world; it’s often the human side that unintentionally creates confusion or problems. The energy between a human and their dog matters, and I focus on helping people understand how their presence, emotions, and body language shape their dog’s behavior.

Dogs communicate primarily through body language, and I lean into that. I use clear movement, posture, leash pressure, capturing behaviors, and thoughtful engagement to help dogs understand what we’re asking. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” method. Every dog and puppy is different, and every human–dog team needs a customized approach.

I also teach humans how to support their dogs physically and emotionally through TTouch, massage, and energy awareness. A dog’s eyes tell a story just as much as their body language, and reading those subtle signals is key to good communication.

Some dogs need more support — especially those who are fearful, anxious, or overwhelmed. For these dogs, a gentler approach may be needed: no eye contact, no talking, no touching at first. Just space, patience, and tools that help them feel safe (like longer leashes or more gradual exposure).

I love incorporating tricks, enrichment, and fun games into training, because learning should be enjoyable for both the dog and the human.

And yesI’m proudly training dogs and their humans right here in Colorado!
